Work at Home Mom

Easy ways to bring in extra income

Many families find it tough to have one parent stay home with the kids, but these days it’s pretty important that homes are supported by two incomes. At the same time, it can cost a fortune to have both parents to work away from home, with travel and childcare costs at an all time high. Some moms find it more convenient to stay home with the kids, and start up a stay at home mom business.

Lots of Options

With all the information offered by the Internet, there are more stay at home job options than ever. All you have to do is pick something you’re interested in - be honest, if you’re not interested in it you probably won’t stick with it - do a little research, and you’re off!

How to Avoid Scams

There are, of course, lots of people out there ready to take advantage of stay at home moms who are either bored or really in need of some extra money. You have to be cautious to avoid scam businesses, especially over the Internet. It can be really easy to protect yourself - here’s how:

  • Be reasonable. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is! There’s very little chance that you’re going to make thousands of dollars a month stuffing envelopes, so if the claims of profit sound exorbitant, stay away.
  • Do your research. Know the company you’re getting involved with. Check out their reputation online and with your local business bureau. Look into any complaints that have been lodged against them. If someone else has had trouble with them, chances are you can expect to as well.
  • Don’t believe the hype. If a company’s website is peppered with exclamation points and lots of capital letters, they’re probably trying to draw your attention away from something. If you can’t find any substantial information on the site, avoid getting involved.
  • Don’t give out personal information. Stick to safe third-party forms of payment, such as checks or paypal deposits. There’s no reason a potential employer should need your banking, social insurance or credit card information - and there’s no reason for you to be putting that information out on the Internet.
