Best protection tips

Office security involves protecting your employees and your business from both internal and external threats. Whether you’re dealing with an overnight robbery or a disgruntled employee, it’s important to have a security solution in place that will shelter both people and property. It’s also important to train your employees in personal safety so that their time spent at work can be focused on productivity, not protection.

Prevention is Key

Your first step to keeping your people and your product safe is prevention. For this you need to be very blatant with your security. You want would-be thieves to know there is a system in place that will work against them. For the most part, thieves are in for the easy grab, and anything that looks like it will take time or effort - or draw attention to them - will be passed up for an easier victim.

When it comes to violence in the workplace, prevention can be a little more complicated. Often, violent employees aren’t in the best frame of mind, so the knowledge that there is a security solution in place may not prevent them from lashing out. Having a security solution that allows you to limit access to the workspace and monitor who is coming in and out is your best way to stay ahead of this situation. However, you have to be proactive with this system, and tighten access when you think there might be a problem.

Follow traditional wisdom as well, keeping your areas well lit, your doors locked, equipment secured and the alarm set. You may even consider hiring a security guard just to ensure that there is always someone concentrating on the safety of your workspace.

Alarms and Alerts

When deciding on a security system, make sure to pick one that is completely obvious in its alerts. Make alarms loud so that everyone in the office can hear them in the case of an emergency, and so that they’re noticeable to police and other emergency workers. Again, the key is to draw attention to the situation so that the perpetrator is either scared off or emergency response can be quick.
